What You Should Know About Changes in Moles
Did you know that the statistical average for moles is anywhere from 10 to 20 per individual?
Of course, moles are incredibly common, and in most cases, they tend to be harmless as well. But moles can become malignant or cancerous, which is why it’s incredibly important to be on the constant lookout for changes in moles.
Specifically, here are some of the changes that are abnormal, and thus should be reported to your doctor upon initial discovery.
If a mole changes in color, it could be indicative of a problem. For instance, if a mole turns darker or becomes in any way discolored.
Next, you should be on the watch out for changes in size or shape of a mole. Meaning, if a mole suddenly begins to increase in size, or if a mole changes in shape, especially in ways where the borders of the mole are no longer perceptible.
Perhaps the most important changes to look out for are pain or bleeding. These are very serious signs and should be reported to your doctor right away.
